The Spine Center at Yale New Haven Hospital provides comprehensive spinal care from initial diagnosis through rehabilitative care and includes both non-surgical and surgical treatments for the full spectrum of spine disorders. An existing building in New Haven’s historic Long Wharf district was identified as a location that could accommodate the hospital’s present requirements and also anticipated future growth.
The 15,000 square foot facility includes 12 exam rooms and private treatment rooms. As a large portion of the rehabilitative treatment is in the for of physical therapy, a generous exercise area was provided with sophisticated diagnostic equipment including motion video analysis. The physical therapy area has been positioned for views to the adjacent harbor. A specialized radiology fluroscopy room and two x-ray rooms have been installed. Individual physical therapy rooms have exterior views, while a group of private examination rooms are clustered around a central nurse station. Existing roof skylights provide natural daylight into a new conference room.
