The design developed from the client request for single floor living with two guest bedrooms on the second floor. The desire was for the house to fit seamlessly into the character of the surrounding neighborhood. An existing historic copper beech tree was on the property and was desired to be a focal point for the design.
The plan locates the master bedroom on the first level in a suite that includes a large walk-in closet and adjoining bath. The remaining sleeping areas on the second floor are connected by a hall overlooking the central stairway. Exterior finishes include stained cedar clapboard and painted wood trim. The kitchen is open to an informal family room overlooking the pool. Adjacent to the kitchen is a butler’s pantry serving a formal dining room.
