In the desire to maintain a physical fitness program in his retirement, the client wanted an indoor swimming pool fitted with a swim-in-place adjustable current system. As an addition to a home in Haycock Point with direct water views, the first floor includes a two car garage, indoor pool, and an attached solarium arranged to form an interior courtyard. The second floor of the new carriage house contains the client’s art studio.
The finishes of the exterior extend the clapboard siding of the original house. The enclosed pool area features a deeply stained cedar wood slat ceiling that contrasts with the light bluestone flooring. Skylights over the pool provide natural lighting. An exterior balcony facing Long Island Sound is supported by Stony Creek granite pillars.
